Exploring Mount Meru Waterfall

Arusha is home to stunning waterfalls cascading from the slopes of Mount Meru, the second-highest peak in Tanzania. After a heavy rain, I set off on a day trip to the impressive Mount Meru Waterfall. The adventure begins with a steep motorbike ride up a rocky road, followed by a jungle stairway leading into a lush gorge.

Once inside, you’ll wade through the river, navigating rocks until you reach the powerful falls, where the water sprays intensely at its base. Located just a few kilometers from town, Mount Meru Waterfall is a must-see attraction.

The hike to the waterfall, guided by an English-speaking local, takes about 45 minutes through rich flora and fertile soils. Along the way, you’ll learn about the unique traditions of the communities living around the mountain.

Keep in mind that the trail has steep sections, so a reasonable fitness level is required. It can also get slippery during the rainy season, so caution is advised. Enjoy the breathtaking views and the refreshing waters at the waterfall!
