You’ll explore key regions, including the Ndutu area and the Southern and Central Serengeti, where the majority of wildebeests gather during this period. Additionally, your journey will take you to the renowned Ngorongoro Crater, a UNESCO World Heritage site.

Your experience will also include a visit to Lake Eyasi, home to the Hadzabe bushmen, along with the Datoga and Mbulu tribes. Here, you’ll have the unique opportunity to learn about their traditional lifestyles, witness their hunting techniques, and even join them on a hunt, providing a truly immersive cultural experience.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Arusha

Upon your arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, you’ll be warmly welcomed by the Meru Slopes Tours and Safaris team. They will provide a brief overview of your safari and answer any questions you may have. Afterward, you’ll be transferred to your accommodation at The Four Points by Sheraton Arusha.


Day 2: Tarangire National Park

After enjoying breakfast at your hotel, you’ll depart for Tarangire National Park. Known for its large herds of elephants, unique tree-climbing lions, and iconic baobab trees—often referred to as the “Tree of Life”—this park is a highlight of Tanzania. The Tarangire River, which flows year-round, serves as a vital water source for wildlife during the dry season.


Day 3: Lake Manyara to Lake Eyasi

After breakfast, you’ll head to Lake Manyara for a full day of game driving. Look out for the famous tree-climbing lions and vibrant flamingos drawn to the lake’s algae. You’ll also visit a hot spring and experience Maasai culture at a boma, learning about their traditions. Later, you’ll drive to Lake Eyasi Tented Lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.


Day 4: Lake Eyasi: Hadzabe and Datoga Tribes

Today, you’ll visit the Hadzabe and Datoga tribes. The Hadzabe (Bushmen) will share their traditional fire-making techniques and demonstrate how to use bows and arrows. You may join the men on a hunting expedition or gather tubers and fruits with the women. After lunch, you’ll meet the Datoga tribe, known for their blacksmithing skills. Observe as they craft tools and learn about their daily life. Overnight will be at Chaka Tented Lodge Ndutu.


Day 5: Ndutu Area in the Serengeti

After breakfast, you’ll set off for the Ndutu area within the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, a crucial part of the southern Serengeti ecosystem. Here, you’ll enjoy an afternoon game drive amidst the spectacular scenery, where the wildebeest migration is prominent from December to April. Expect to see elephants, diverse bird species, and other resident wildlife. Dinner and overnight at Chaka Tented Lodge.


Day 6: Game Drive in Ndutu Area to Serengeti Central

Following breakfast, embark on a full day of exploration in the Ndutu area. Traverse various habitats including swamps, woodlands, and short-grass plains, especially during the calving season when wildebeest give birth. After your adventure, you’ll travel to Serengeti National Park for dinner and an overnight stay at Serengeti Heritage Tented Lodge.


Day 7: Central Serengeti National Park

After breakfast, enjoy a full day of game drives, tracking the Great Migration trails. Your knowledgeable guide will share fascinating insights into this incredible natural event, as you witness thousands of wildebeests, zebras, and gazelles traversing the vast plains of the Serengeti. Experience the enchanting sounds of wildlife all around you.


Day 8: Ngorongoro Crater

You’ll start your day early with breakfast before heading to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Descend 600 meters into the crater to witness an abundance of wildlife, including wildebeests, zebras, and various predators like lions and cheetahs. A visit to Lake Magadi will provide views of flamingos and hippos. Dinner and overnight at Marera View Lodge.


Day 9: Cultural Experience in Mto Wa Mbu

After breakfast, you’ll travel to Mto Wa Mbu for a morning of cultural exploration and a walking safari. Enjoy a delicious local lunch while soaking in the beautiful surroundings. An optional mountain biking activity can be arranged for those seeking adventure.


Day 10: Departure

On your final day, you’ll head back to Arusha or the airport for your flight home, taking with you unforgettable memories of your safari experience.
